I had high hopes for this wine, but I mistakenly drank it after a monster bottle of 95 Martini Los Ninos. It was really overshadowed, which may contribute to a fairly skewed rating. The nose was filled with rich brambleberry, cherry, and oaky vanilla with an herbal tint...The taste was very chocolaty with a rich cherry, espresso feel. The finish was a bit tannic, but was still pretty long. I think that if I drank this wine solo, I would have given it a 4+. But, if you drink a really good Cali cab right before (by accident) then this wine doesn't seem as great...Still good though...

Beautiful color of purple with great viscosity in the glass. Fruit forward nose of black currant and black berry with forest floor and smoke. Spicy in the mouth with subtle dark fruit, leather, damp earth and well balanced oak. Integrated tannins and a long silky smooth finish. A great effort and at $20/bottle on sale one heck of a deal. Rated a 93 on CT.

Aromas of cherry, cocoa, and mintiness. Medium to full body with a creamy oak presence on the mouthfeel. Flavors of bright cherry and vanilla with an herbal ending. Moderate dry tannins on the finish.

Have been trying these about every two years. This wine has developed very well and is still drinking beautifully. Tannins are present and soft. A real treat. Last bottle.
